Biographical details
Dr Peter Dudley
An education leader, writer and researcher, Pete taught primary and secondary in London and abroad (including teaching English as a Foreign/Additional Language) and has held education leadership posts at local, regional and national levels in England.

Pete introduced Lesson Study into the UK from Japan in 2001 and has led its development through Research Lesson Study.

Pete lectures in educational leadership and learning at the University of Cambridge for half his time and during the other half he is Director of Education Commissioning in the London Borough of Camden (60 schools). His currently the President of the World Association of Lesson Studies.

SESSION SUMMARY丨演讲摘要 
Pete Dudley will discuss ‘teacher learning’ – in both pre-service and ‘continuing professional development’ (CPD). He will review traditional approaches to CPD in relation to what we now know about the ways in which teachers develop professional knowledge that are most likely to improve the learning of their students. He will then discuss these in relation to Lesson Study reviewing features of both Japanese and Chinese models and other variants such as Learning Study, Research Lesson Study and Lesson Study for Learning Community. Finally, he will give examples of how schools and groups of schools utilise Lesson Study collaboratively to improve pupil learning outcomes.

 SESSION SUMMARY丨演讲摘要 

In this session Pete will go into greater depth in three of the themes he discussed in his keynote speech. There will be opportunities for focused discussion and for questions.

The first theme will draw upon socio-cultural theory in particular focusing on how we learn and on the inter-related roles of language, talk and thought. The second session will examine the implications of research on teacher learning and professional development.Thirdly he will explore the potential for leadership of such development across schools through cycles of development where teachers research and share improvements and innovations through collaborative, classroom-centred action research.
